IEEE New Orleans Section Members:
For 75
years, the purpose of the New Orleans Section of the
IEEE has centered around one fundamental promise:
We will be there for those who have been a part of
our organization and put their trust in us as well
as for those who are now joining our prestigious
ranks. Just as the New Orleans Sections promise
is to its members, the IEEE world wide and regional
leadership groups promote the quote "Fostering
technological innovation and excellence for the
benefits of humanity"
Just as
it is true that engineers join the IEEE because they
choose to shoulder a careers challenges with other
professionals, it is also true that engineering
students can't be expected to navigate all the
challenges of growing and learning on their own.
Their success in life and their careers as well as
their fostering technological innovation and
excellence depends not just on their parents or
caregivers, but also on the availability of
resources and the involvement of other adults in
their professions like the IEEE New Orleans Section
members.
Every
day, our members, both young and experienced alike,
inspire us with a deeper understanding of what it
means to serve others with humanity, integrity and
strength. Furthermore, they remind us that the value
of any enterprise is ultimately measured not by the
immediate returns of the day, but by the legacy you
leave for tomorrow. While each of the IEEE New
Orleans Section grants fund a specific cause, the
conclusion, for us, is always the same: When you
touch a member’s or student’s life, you transform
your own.
In the
end, I'm not always certain who is nurturing whom.
But I can tell you that it is a very great honor to
help engineers and engineering students who are so
deserving of our support. It is an honor, as well,
to work alongside the IEEE New Orleans Section
members, agents and retirees who very generously
give of themselves. Their genuine
spirit of
compassion and caring is at the very heart of our
philanthropic mission. I hope we can continue with
our fundamental promise and foster a stronger and
more active relationship with our charges.
